Beans we Japanese people eat have many kinds.
Their colors are green, red, white, yellow, black,etc.
The beans which is consumed most in Japan may be soybean, I think.
Because the soybeans are processed and become to soy sauce or miso which are Japanese representative seasoning, and the tofu and the natto.
 
And we boil green beans with salt and eat green soybeans, green beans and green peas, etc.
Also we cook rice with red beans.
It is called “Sekihan(Red rice)”.
We take it on the celebration day.

Besides, we make boiled beans with soy sauce and sugar.
Cooked beans are a recipe that has been popular for a long time.
Among them, black soybeans are one of the standard dishes of the New Year's Osechi cuisine.
Eating black beans in the New Year Day means that we want to be healthy like beans this year too.

The beans are pronounced "mame" in Japanese, and “mame” means a cheerful state.
In spite of Japanese people eat a lot of beans in this way, we must rely on almost of import beans.
