Yama-yaki

Yama-yaki (mountain-burning)

Yama yaki, which means mountain burning, was held at Mt. Wakakusa in Nara January 28.
This event has been transmitted since 800 years.
After fireworks display, the entire mountain is filled in flames.

There are two big events that herald the arrival of spring for Japanese people.
The Shuni-e ceremony, which is called“Omizutori”, is held in Nigatsu-do in Toudai-ji in the beginning of March.
Priests of Todai-ji Temple pray to Eleven-faced Kannon in the Nigatsu-do Hall, for the peace of the country as well as for the prosperity of people by repentance for one's misdeeds.
"Omizutori" is the most famous of all the events of Shuni-e, and the torchlight presents a grand spectacle.

And the Mantoro festival is held on Setsubun February 3 in Kasugataisha in Nara.
There are approximately 3,000 lanterns on the precincts of the Kasuga Great Shrine and all the lanterns are lit.
it is an dreamy and fantastic scene.
Nara is my favorite city where there are tradition sights and isn’t urbanization very much.
Nara is located in the place for about 30 minutes from Kyoto and Osaka.
These sights in Nara were registered into the world heritage of UNESCO in 1998.
