Cool biz

Cool biz

This is a Japanese-English coined word which means a cool fashion style in summer.
And it was made by two words of "cool" and "business".
It was introduced in order to set air conditioner at 28 degrees Celsius for the purpose to reduce the power consumption.

In the past, we felt too cold at department store and we occasionally needed a jacket.
Also there were many women who had trouble with poor circulation, because the office was too cool.
At the service business, there was a recognition that cool environment was one of the service.

However, eco-friendly consciousness increased, and the fashion of the Cool Biz was commonly used.
Today, those who work in contact with the customer are approved of clothes without a jacket and a tie too.
